90’s R&B Covers by am1r

Welcome to the section of my website dedicated to all things old school! On this page you’ll find my cover series focused on 90s R&B songs. I’ve done many covers over the last two years so I felt it was appropriate to start a series that features my interpretations of the songs that inspired my sound! It was these songs that started my obsession with soul music and turned me into the artist/songwriter/producer that I am today!   If you’ve heard my original music or any of the covers and remixes I’ve done recently, you can probably tell I’ve been heavily influenced by this era of music. Although I try to impart my own influences and sound on to covers of modern songs too, I felt it was time to do a tribute to the music that I grew up on. I feel like certain things that made these songs great is missing from music today and want to channel some of that feeling into my music as well. Some of my favorite artists from this period include Boyz II Men, Dru Hill, 112, R.Kelly, Joe, Ginuwine, Mariah Carey, and many many more. The list would be too long for this page!

I’ll be approaching these songs the same way I do my other renditions and original music. I’ll start with the songs I feel suit my voice the best, then try to add my twist to them through various vocal arrangements and production experiments! I’m also going to give the songs a modern spin, so they feel fresh and nostalgic at the same time! Hopefully I can do these tracks the justice they deserve! If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions for future covers to add to this list, feel free to contact me anytime through my contact page –  Thanks for taking the time to listen!
